The Day in Review
Okay... I know it's really early but most of the games were afternoon affairs. If any news breaks late, I'll be sure to come update you all.
Injury News
- Victor Martinez, who we mentioned yesterday, is now out 6-8 weeks after having surgery on his elbow. As RotoWorld says, it's looking more and more likely the Indians will be sellers come July 31.
- I guess the only other injury news is the return of Jake Peavy, who helped the Padres shut out the Dodgers today.
Notable Performances
- Jon Lester went seven strong for Boston, allowing 2 HR. Mike Lowell hit a homer and drove in four.
- Adrian Gonzalez now has 18 HR on the year. He's a solid option at first base - the problem is, his owner is probably the one person in your league who knows he's valuable, so he's probably not for sale.
- Miguel Cabrera's homer bought a victory for Detroit, after Kenny Rogers went 8 innings and allowed only one run.
- Ryan Doumit hit another HR for Pittsburgh, part of a 3-RBI day. What can you say about what this guy has done? Victor Martinez owners, if he's somehow available, grab him before this streak is over!
- Scott Olsen, a popular spot starter, went seven strong against Philly, striking out seven and giving up only one earned (while breaking up Jamie Moyer's no-no). Moyer, on the other hand, threw eight innings, struck out three, and is in line for a victory.
So it's a little early, but that's what you need to know about the day.
